My guess is that rom releases seem to follow the emulators. With the birth of vgb, lots of roms were released. Same with paso, ines, nesticle, tg-16, practically every emu release seems to have sparked rom releases. I'd say that the main reason for so little rom releases in the genesis area would be the semblance of stagnance in the genesis emulation area right now. Genem isn't being updated(unless it goes commercial, in which case the roms will be provided) so there isn't much use in releasing games unless there's an emulator that can run them. Genem is great, but it's still incomplete and can't run a lot of the genesis games I tried out. There are genesis emus in the works, and I'm sure that when they are released, people will start dumping genesis games again. As for now... try the SNES!
